Dragon Cruiser

Description

This is, at the time of the story I'm currently illustrating; a living legend.

The Dragon cruiser was once the work-horse of the federation, along with the Carriers that still fly around and are still produced; the Dragon's however, are not.
They're once were and still are feared for their massive broadside armament, capable of pummeling most resistance into dust and attacking from the top is an equally bad idea; the front also houses very powerful cannons and it is formidably armored; but the Dragons are outdated, they are slow, cumbersome and slowly reaching the limit of what modern ad-ons and upgrades can do.

They were built to patrol the borders and as flying artillery platforms and troop-carriers, but today, more advanced planes have taken their roles and Dragons are limited to patrolling just the least hostile areas and are flown in close formation to back up fleets of other, slow flying battleships.

Though they have anti-air weapons and heavy armor, they have obvious weak-spots, which are easily attacked from below and from the rear; even turrets haven't prevented the remaining dragons from taking heavy damage, but they are hardy and impressively, no Dragon has been lost in battle yet (as far as the records say at least) but one particularly interesting incident happened when one collided with a mountain.

It was lost during a storm, pushed by strong winds against the mountain and lodged itself at full speed so far into it that it could not be salvaged. In the days of old, when the federation's air-fleet was still small and cumbersomely slow, the survivors made use of their downed craft to make a home for themselves in which they waited for their rescuers to find them, nearly a month later. The plane is forever locked with the mountain's north face, where the summit broke and buried it and the site has since been named; "The Dragon's Roost"

When designing it; I had that story in mind that I wrote a long time ago and I was thinking that, at some point in time, the federation designed its ships to have some sort of emotional tie to those who looked on them; some still do obviously but I also liked the idea of drawing a ship that had, some resemblance to a dragon.
Also; originally, the plane had windows at the front, the newer models still mark the areas, but now its sensors that are fitted there and sometimes, gun-bays.

I don't know if it's just me, but the perspective seems kinda off. Like the left wing is too far forward and almost appears to be detached from the rest of the ship. ^^;
Otherwise, this is awesome. X3 I love space ship designs~ <3 And its resemblance to a dragon is something that I personally find really cool. ^^ Nice work. :3
